Field work first day experience

For my first day teaching at Bishop Dunn's 5th grade class. I taught with Hanna and we were teaching the students about the thirteen colonies, Our first lesson plan was a Direct lesson. A direct lesson is when the teaching gives the students new information. The students have to review in between slides to make sure that the students are paying attention and also that they understand. After watching all the other groups that taught their lesson I had a better understanding on how to teach direct lesson. I was very nervous at first because I was worried about time.   We made sure we reviewed over what the students should know . Then we started with giving them the information about the thirteen colonies . We split the colonies into the three parts and taught the New England colonies then went into the Middle and Lastly the Southern Colonies. We discussed how the colonies were formed , the resources in each colony and the important people involved. W e used  a power point to present are information and then did an activity together with the students. The students  were given a crossword puzzle for homework.
